Katadyn Vario presents a water purification system that combines personal efficiency with simple use. Vario Water purification pump from Katadyn has both a large main filter and a small ceramic pre-filter, each of which can be replaced when their usefulness reaches the end.
The pump's main filter is split between an active carbon filter and a fiberglass microfilter. The active carbon filter in the main filter removes chlorine and harmful chemicals, which helps ensure a fresher taste and better drinking experience.
When the carbon filter is about to run out of active carbon, you will typically experience that the freshness of the water you drink will begin to deteriorate. In this case, you can purchase a "Carbon replacement package for Vario" with new active carbon that can be poured into the filter.
The glass fiber microfilter in the main filter has a pore size of 0.3 micron, so it can remove bacterial material. This makes it safe to drink water directly from streams. when the fiberglass microfilter in the main filter has expired, you can purchase a new "Vario replacement filter n/a".
The ceramic pre-filter can be activated when filtering in muddy/dirty water to protect against grime and other dirt from the stream. When the ceramic pre-filter has reached the end of its life, you can purchase a new "Vario Ceramic Replaceable Pre-filter".
The Vario water purification pump has a double-pump function where the handle pumps water both when it is pushed forward and pulled back. This model can be screwed directly onto a Nalgene Wide Mouth drinking bottle.
