You can treat tents, tarps, jackets, shoes, boots, etc. and our are made for different materials. Some products will be specially designed to treat boots while others are made specifically for tents. The respective products will state the specific purpose of the product.
Grangers developed the first environmentally friendly water-based waterproofing over 40 years ago and since then, they've worked hard to reduce environmental impacts. Granger's believes that independent recommendations are the only way to really show your green intentions. They're the first and so far only manufacturer of waterproofing that is both ISO 14001 certified and bluesign® system partner. Bluesign® is the leading independent standard for environmentally friendly products within the textile industry. All Grangers Wash-In products are simultaneously designed to be used at temperatures down to 30°C, thereby reducing electricity consumption by up to 40%. And because Grangers products last longer, there is less need to waterproof your clothes as often. Independent tests have also shown that Grangers and Fabsil products are longer lasting than their competitors' products.
Use of waterproofing
There are several different application options of waterproofing. Some washes on, others sprayed on while there are some where the treatment is massaged into the material. Which method you should use depends on both the products and what you think is easies. The most important thing is merely that you get your waterproof evenly distributed over the entire surface.
Whatever you need to treat, it's important that you start off with a thorough cleaning. Is it a tent, it's, for example, important to clean it both on the inside and out. Remember to let your product dry after cleaning, so that it's not wet when you start the waterproofing. Advantegously, you can use a Universal Spray Cleaner to clean the surface. Once the surface is clean, apply the waterproofing to the surface you wish to make waterproof. If droplets form during application, they can be rubbed in using a soft and clean cloth. When the surface is completely dry, your gear is protected and ready to be exposed to rain and dirt.
