The Esbit brand was started back in 1936 by Erich Schumm after he had invented the special alcohol tablets which are still a main product for Esbit. Esbit is a family-run company from Hamburg, Germany, and the name is an abbreviation of: Erich Scumm Brennstoff In Tabletten.
Alcohol tablets for any purpose - the first Esbit product
Esbit alcohol tablets have been produced since the company's start-up in 1936, and are perhaps the most well-known product of the company. The benefits of these tablets are many. Of course, they can be easily lit with matches, lighters or irons and do not strike sparks afterwards. In addition, they develop almost no smoke during use and they provide very little cleaning after use. Using one 14 gram tablet, the tablets can boil half a liter of water in about 7 minutes.
